The Oland Trophy for the top Army
Reserve unit in Atlantic Canada was
presented to the Halifax Rifles at a
ceremony held July 5, 2013, at the
Land Force Atlantic Area Training
Centre at Camp Aldershot near
Kentville, Nova Scotia. The trophy
was presented by Brigadier-General
(Ret’d) The Honourable J.J. Grant,
Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia
(centre left holding trophy), and
Lieutenant-General Peter J. Devlin,
Commander of the Canadian Army, to
Major Gary Melville, Commanding
Officer of the Halifax Rifles, and
Warrant Officer Richard Fancy,
Regimental Sergeant Major of the
Halifax Rifles (right). The presentation
was witnessed by Chief Warrant
Officer Mark Baisley, Regimental
Sergeant Major of Land Force Atlantic
Area (left) and Chief Warrant Officer
Michael Hornbrook, Regimental
Sergeant Major of the Canadian Army
(third right).
