" C" Squadron was the entry squadron for all recruits, for basic military training of
drill, discipline, dress, and field training in small arms at Bedford Rifle Range.
Weekend field training was a regular part of the agenda in several NS
communities, under leadership of Major John Barnaby, Officer Commanding, SSM
Garagan, Sgt Hatcher. Recruits move on to "A" Squadron to complete Armoured
Corps training in tank gunnery, driving, maintenance, and wireless R/T.

These film clips of 1955 highlight the recruit drill and training and on completion a
more formal inspection and presentations at The Halifax Armoury by Hon Colonel
Victor Oland, with Commanding Officer, LCol Gerry Snair.
